Founded in 1949, Flintridge Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in their mission of providing complex, life-changing and life-saving care for every child they treat, regardless of their circumstances. We take pride in the awareness and funds we have raised for CHLA over the past several decades. For this, we credit the dedication and hard work of our members, past and present.
We have a robust Active and Provisional membership, supported by over 130 Associate, and Sustaining, members. Comprising women from diverse backgrounds, ages and life stages — many of whom have been with the Guild for several decades now — ours is a rich community of support and camaraderie, united in our common purpose of advocating for CHLA.

Currently, our donations fund the projects of the Associates Chair in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, and the Associates Chair in Ophthalmology.
CHLA Associates Chair in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine
CHLA is one of the most experienced pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine centers in the United States. Since 1974, their experts have provided world-class care for the full spectrum of common and complex breathing and lung disorders in children. The hospital is also home to one of the first programs in the country to establish a Sleep Center focused exclusively on helping children with sleep disorders. Dr. Lara Bishay is the Associates Chair in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, effective Jan 1, 2026. Under her leadership, the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine achieved significant progress in expanding access to care and driving innovation, including in the following areas:
*opened a new pulmonary clinic in Encino, increasing access to specialized pediatric pulmonary care for the broader community.
*collaborated with Keck USC to launch the INSPIRE device program at CHLA, offering teens and young adults with Down syndrome and severe sleep apnea a treatment alternative via implanted hypoglossal nerve stimulation.
*established multidisciplinary severe asthma program with the Division of Clinical Immunology and Allergy to improve outcomes for high-risk patients, and expanded programs in aerodigestive care and bariatric surgery support in partnership with CHLA specialists in ENT, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology.
CHLA Associates Chair in Ophthalmology
Ranking among the nation’s largest and most comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology programs, the Vision Center at CHLA brings together a team whose depth of expertise positions them to treat some of the rarest and most challenging eye conditions. Under the leadership of Thomas C. Lee, MD, Associates Chair in Ophthalmology, and a widely recognized expert in this field, the Vision Center team has broadened access to care, namely in the following areas:
*CHLA developed the nation’s first telemedicine vision care program, launching it within the Los Angeles and Compton school districts, using telemedicine to perform remote exams on children who require a higher level of care and eliminating the need for families to travel to CHLA’s Sunset campus for an initial evaluation, reducing wait times, and sparing parents from having to take time off work.
*CHLA’s work with the Armenia Eye Care Project since 2009 has expanded to partnership with three major Armenian children’s hospitals to establish pediatric residency programs that draw on CHLA’s clinical expertise and curriculum.
