The Associates Endowed Chair in Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine
Led by Laura Bishay, MD, the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles provides comprehensive treatment of congenital, inherited, and acquired disorders of the lungs and respiratory system. Incidences of severe respiratory viruses have surged in children over the last several years. The program is the first and only multidisciplinary clinic addressing the needs of children with complex breathing and feeding disorders in the Southern California region. CHLA addresses a variety of conditions that affect the respiratory and digestive systems; conditions treated include asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer and respiratory failure. Additionally, the Division is dedicated to research to improve lung and respiratory conditions.
The Associates Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology
Led by Thomas C. Lee, MD the Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is an international referral center for children with complex eye diseases and is the only program of its kind in the United States with expertise in virtually every pediatric ophthalmologic subspecialty. Through the use of the latest medical diagnostic protocols, surgical treatments, and cutting-edge research, CHLA’s experts treat a range of complex eye diseases in infants to young adults. The Vision Center has a robust portfolio of research designed to benefit children with a wide range of eye disorders and advance the state of knowledge in this field. Dr. Lee has an active research program that focuses on developing new therapies to treat retinopathy of prematurity and retinoblastoma.
